Steve Saka, one-time Drew Estate CEO and one of the main dudes behind your favorite Liga Privada and Unico blends, has returned to the cigar industry!
"Leaving Drew Estate was an extremely difficult decision, but one I ultimately had to make for my family and my own well being. I still have some genuine regrets deciding to depart, but in the end I believe I made the right choice; DE had become a juggernaut and along with that success I found myself spending too much energy focused on business-related issues and less on what I personally love: the creating and crafting of cigars. I guess you could say I had a mid-life crisis of sorts, but instead of buying a sports car I decided to leave a fantastic organization with the foolish intent to start a small, independent, family-held, premium handmade cigar company."
How about this for a company statement: "Puros Sin Compromiso", which translates to "Cigars without compromise"?
Steve's first cigar, Sobremesa - which is the Latin term for the time after dinner when you're still seated at the table enjoying your family and friends with a full belly, a glass full of something intoxicating, and, if you so choose, a wonderful smoke - will be made at Joya de Nicaragua with a bevy of wonderful tobaccos... The wrapper is a La Meca Ecuador Habano Grade 1 Dark Rosado leaf, the binder is a Matacapan Negro de Temporal leaf, and the filler blend is comprised of Nicaraguan GK Condega C-SG Seco, Nicaraguan Pueblo Nuevo Criollo Viso, Nicaraguan La Joya Esteli, C-98 Viso Nicaraguan ASP Esteli Hybrid Ligero, and USA Lancaster County Broadleaf Ligero. Featuring a creamy core laced with abundant notes of cedar, cocoa, and cafe, the cigar is punctuated by a tellicherry peppercorn retrohale and a sweet, lingering finish. Refined. Balanced. Complex.
