For those who don’t already know, Leaf by Oscar began as a small boutique project based out of Leaf and Bean, a tiny shop in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The owner of that shop is the man after whom this cigar is named: Jim Robinson, a.k.a. “Island Jim.”

With the Success of the Leaf by Oscar line, Oscar and Jim created a new blend, under the name “Island Jim,” for Jim, the business partner of Oscar Valladares and his Danli, Honduras factory.

While good ol’ Jim swears not to disclose any in-depth information about the blend, we do know that Island Jim consists of rich Honduran filler and binder tobaccos inside a Nicaraguan Jalapa wrapper leaf. In typical Leaf by Oscar fashion, Island Jim comes complete with a ragged, unfinished foot and a very interesting multi-layer cap. Island Jim is only available in one size: a beautiful 6 ½ x 52 torpedo figurado appropriately named “#2,” due to its apparent resemblance to a No. 2 pencil.

Featuring choice Honduran tobaccos for its binder and filler components, distinctly rolled within a quality Nicaraguan Jalapa wrapper leaf – Island Jim cigars deliver smokers an intricate and earthy profile of smoky cedar, salty leather, and notes of white pepper, over a great accenting finish of rich and creamy caramel undertones.

Since that cigar was such a hit he came out with the Island Jim San Andres. The Island Jim San Andres is a medium strength cigar that is handmade in Honduras by Oscar Valladares. It features a dark Mexican San Andres maduro wrapper with an Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade head and shaggy foot. It has a peppery, earthy and fruity profile.

Island Jim Barber Pole is a beautiful cigar that's about as artfully crafted as they come. Made by hand in Honduras, check out the eye-catching, dual-wrapper design. This unique 'barber pole' is composed of Honduran-grown Connecticut Shade and Corojo leaves, skillfully intertwined to create something that's not only a conversation starter, but also a true palate pleaser. While the rest of the blend remains undisclosed, rest assured whatever the exact recipe is, it delivers the deliciousness in spades. Expect creamy notes of lightly sweetened coffee, cedar, and a hint of vanilla bean, with just a touch of black pepper spice on the finish. Medium to full-bodied strength that builds as it burns.
